The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is actively investigating a homicide that took place in Southeast Washington, D.C. on the evening of Saturday, July 25, 2026. Officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue around 9:48 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Dayquan Miller, a resident of Southeast D.C.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to reach out. The department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides within the District.
