“Hundreds of thousands of visitors have come to Washington, DC to celebrate the semiquincentennial, and the Freedom 250 Grand Prix is another event that people are excited about,” Mayor Bowser stated. District officials are advising residents and visitors to anticipate temporary traffic impacts around the 1.7-mile race course and advise allowing extra travel time during the race weekend. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) will be fully activated to ensure a safe environment for all, with Interim Chief Jeffery W. Carroll highlighting the importance of community vigilance in maintaining security during the event.
