Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) are set to honor the 10th Anniversary of 202Creates Month with the Second Annual 202Creates Con on September 28. The event will take place at the National Geographic Museum of Exploration, offering a platform for local and national leaders in creative fields to engage with the community.
202Creates Month, launched in 2016, has evolved into a significant celebration of creativity and entrepreneurship within the District. According to the Bowser Administration, the initiative has supported a diverse range of creators, including musicians, filmmakers, and designers, contributing to the growth of the city’s creative economy from $3 billion to $15 billion over the past decade. This expansion has reportedly strengthened small businesses and cultural vibrancy across all eight wards.
This year’s 202Creates Con will feature a full day of activities designed to foster collaboration and innovation among artists and entrepreneurs. Attendees can expect panel discussions, fireside chats, live performances, and various networking opportunities with industry leaders and local creative organizations. Notable participants include Deputy Mayor Nina Albert and LaToya Foster, Director of OCTFME, among others.
The event is open to the public, with doors scheduled to open at 9 am. Press representatives interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP via email. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live, allowing residents to engage with the festivities from home.
