Previously Convicted Felon Pleads Guilty to Illegal Possession of a Loaded Glock 27

Pres Braddy, a 34-year-old previously convicted felon, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a loaded Glock 27 .40 caliber pistol in U.S. District Court, as announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. The plea was entered before Judge Christopher R. Cooper, who has scheduled sentencing for January 5, 2027.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on August 30, 2025, when members of the Metropolitan Police Department were patrolling a parking lot at the Garfield Terrace apartments. Surveillance footage captured Braddy wearing a black crossbody satchel while in a group of approximately a dozen individuals. As officers approached, Braddy distanced himself from the group, removed the satchel, and returned to the crowd.

An officer investigated the satchel and discovered a Glock 27 loaded with one round in the chamber and 15 additional rounds in the magazine. The satchel also contained 17 more rounds of .40 caliber ammunition. Braddy is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm, for which they were sentenced to 18 months in prison in September 2017.

In a separate case, Braddy was convicted on September 10, 2026, for unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person involving a Glock 23 Gen 5 pistol. This firearm was recovered following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in which Braddy was a passenger. Sentencing for this offense is also set for January 5.

Both cases are part of the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Again Initiative, which focuses on addressing violent crime by prioritizing federal prosecution of armed repeat offenders and removing illegal firearms from neighborhoods, as stated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
