The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is currently investigating a tragic pedestrian fatality that occurred early Monday morning on DC295 in Southeast Washington, D.C. The incident took place at approximately 3:23 a.m. on July 13, 2026, prompting a swift response from the Sixth District officers.

According to preliminary reports from the MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit, the incident began when the pedestrian, later identified as 18-year-old Camari Primrose of Silver Spring, Maryland, exited a vehicle that had stopped in the northbound lanes of DC295. In a distressing sequence of events, Primrose ran across the northbound lanes, crossed the guardrail, and entered the southbound lanes where she was subsequently struck by a Ford Escape. Emergency services, including DC Fire and EMS, arrived on the scene but pronounced her dead after finding no signs of life.

The driver of the Ford Escape remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The incident underscores the ongoing concerns regarding pedestrian safety on major thoroughfares in the District, particularly in areas where high-speed traffic and pedestrian activity intersect.

As the investigation continues, the MPD is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Residents who can provide tips are encouraged to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or send a text to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Community involvement is crucial in helping to ensure the safety of all who travel through the District.
