(Washington, DC) – Mayor Muriel Bowser is set to officially reopen the outdoor pool at the Rosedale Recreation Center in Ward 7 on Thursday, July 23, at 2 PM. This $6.8 million renovation marks a significant transformation for the community hub, which originally opened its doors in 1934 and underwent a previous rebuild in 2012. With an expansion of over 1,400 square feet, the new facility now boasts a total area of 7,867 square feet, featuring six expanded swimming lanes ideal for competitive swimming, an interactive splash pad for younger swimmers, and upgraded filtration systems to enhance water quality.
The revitalized pool area also includes new lifeguard stations and various improvements designed to promote community engagement, providing residents with ample opportunities to swim, learn, and stay active during the outdoor pool season. The grand reopening celebration will include food, games, and live music, creating an inviting atmosphere for families and individuals in the neighborhood.
