Armed Career Criminal Sentenced in D.C. to 135 Months After Loaded Glock Pistol Found in His Parked Vehicle

Edward Allen Anderson, a 40-year-old man with a prior conviction as an “armed career criminal,” has been sentenced to 135 months in prison after being found in illegal possession of a loaded firearm. The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Known by the nickname “Man Man,” Anderson pleaded guilty to a single count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on July 2. In addition to the prison term, he is required to serve three years of supervised release.

The case began on September 15, 2023, when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department noticed a Volkswagen Touareg parked with Virginia tags in the 700 block of Otis Place NW. During a routine check, an officer spotted a firearm on the rear passenger floorboard of the vehicle. A subsequent examination revealed a Glock Model 25 9mm handgun, which had its serial number obliterated. The weapon was loaded with one round in the chamber and 16 rounds in an extended magazine.

The vehicle was registered to Anderson, and mail addressed to him was found inside. DNA evidence linked him to the firearm, establishing his unlawful possession given his previous felony conviction related to drug offenses.

This investigation was part of the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful initiative, aimed at addressing gun violence and enforcing stricter penalties for firearm violations. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nihar Mohanty. Anderson’s case underscores ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms in the district.
