DC Courts Wishes Farewell to Talented Court of Appeals Summer Interns
As the summer season draws to a close, the DC Courts Communication Team has taken the opportunity to highlight the invaluable contributions of four talented interns from the DC Court of Appeals. These interns, each assigned to work alongside distinguished judges, shared their experiences and insights, reflecting on how their summer stint has shaped their professional journeys.
Doreen Okeh, who interned for Judge John P. Howard, expressed her gratitude for the experience, stating, “It’s truly an experience I’ll never forget. From my co-interns to my leads, to my judge, it was a great experience.” Okeh emphasized the importance of submitting high-quality work, advising future interns to be steadfast in their efforts and to ensure precision in all tasks.
Kyra Mitchell, interning for Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby, noted the significant growth in her research abilities, stating, “I’ve really been able to strengthen my research skills this summer; I’ve been able to research many complex legal questions.” Fellow intern Jacob Forbes echoed this sentiment, highlighting the mentorship opportunities available at the Historic Courthouse, where he learned from seasoned professionals in the field.
Garrett Frankis, also an intern for Chief Judge Blackburne-Rigsby, advised future interns to seize every opportunity to intern, emphasizing the value of a well-rounded resume and the ability to bring diverse knowledge into the chambers.
