The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a shooting that took place in the Edgewood neighborhood of Northeast Washington, DC. The incident occurred on May 11, 2026, and has drawn significant attention from local law enforcement and residents alike.

At approximately 2:26 p.m. on the day of the shooting, officers from the Fifth District responded to reports of gunfire in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, NE. Upon their arrival, they found a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Emergency services from DC Fire and EMS quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation into the incident, MPD secured a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for the suspect. On August 5, 2026, police apprehended 34-year-old Lloyd Wright, a resident of Northwest DC. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) in relation to the shooting.
