The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a fatal stabbing that took place in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 3, 2026, around 4:10 p.m. when Fifth District officers responded to reports of a stabbing on the 1900 block of West Virginia Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim suffering from sharp force injuries. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital; however, despite extensive lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Maurice Justice, a resident of Southeast D.C.

Following the incident, police quickly located and arrested the suspect, 44-year-old Kenneth Brock-Smith, who resides in Northeast D.C. He has since been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed and was taken to the Homicide Branch for processing.
