The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred early Monday morning on Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast Washington, D.C. Officers from the Sixth District responded to reports of an individual down in the 2500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital; however, despite extensive lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Turray Simms, a resident of Northeast D.C.

The MPD is urging anyone with information regarding this incident to reach out. Individuals can contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or send a tip via text to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. In an effort to solicit public assistance, the MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District.

This fatal shooting adds to ongoing concerns about public safety in the area, as residents of Southeast D.C. continue to advocate for community safety measures. As the investigation unfolds, the MPD encourages citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
