The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a tragic homicide that took place early Sunday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C. Officers from the First District responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of K Street, Southeast, at approximately 5:26 a.m.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene after showing no signs of life. The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Daremiah Banks, a resident of Northwest D.C.

In light of this incident, the MPD urges anyone with information to come forward. Residents who may have knowledge regarding the shooting are encouraged to contact the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, tips can be sent anonymously via the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. To aid in the investigation, MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District of Columbia.
