The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced the arrest of a suspect involved in two property offenses in Northwest Washington, D.C. The events unfolded early Thursday morning, July 2, 2026, in the 1800 block of 14th Street, NW, prompting a swift response from Third District officers.

At approximately 6:26 a.m., officers arrived at the scene following reports of a burglary at a closed business. Upon their arrival, they found the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Elisha Anwar Bridges, near the property with a crowbar and a damaged door. Investigators determined that Bridges had unlawfully entered a closed restaurant, removed items from inside, and attempted to break into an adjacent business by damaging its side patio door.

Before Bridges could complete the second burglary attempt, MPD officers apprehended him at the scene. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including Burglary in the Second Degree, Felony Destruction of Property, Unlawful Entry, and two counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Police Officer, as well as Resisting Arrest.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about property crimes in the Northwest quadrant of the city, where local businesses are working to recover from the impacts of previous offenses.
