The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a suspect involved in a road rage incident in Southeast Washington, D.C. The arrest follows an altercation that escalated into a threatening situation, highlighting concerns over escalating disputes on the road.
On February 25, 2026, at approximately 7:41 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to reports of an assault in the 2500 block of Marion Barry Avenue. According to the MPD, the incident began when the victim and the suspect engaged in a traffic dispute. The situation intensified when the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim, issuing verbal threats before fleeing the scene. As the suspect drove away, he reportedly fired the gun into the air.
Following an investigation, the MPD worked in conjunction with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, leading to the arrest of 65-year-old Gregory Williams of Fort Washington, Maryland, on September 23, 2026. The arrest was made pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant.
Gregory Williams now faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Endangerment with a Firearm. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with road rage and the seriousness with which law enforcement approaches such threats to public safety.
