TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Parking Garage Access During Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, DC

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, DC is set to take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and Sunday, August 23, 2026. In anticipation of the event, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced a series of traffic closures and vehicle restrictions to ensure public safety and security in the District. Residents and employees in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly as access to certain parking garages and loading docks will be impacted.

In the lead-up to the Grand Prix, MPD will implement measures to accommodate access to parking facilities whenever possible, barring any specific public safety needs that would necessitate restrictions. Motorists with legitimate reasons for entering restricted streets, such as residence or parking garage access, will be permitted entry after providing a brief explanation to officers stationed at traffic control points.

Key access points for motorists include the Reagan Building, where vehicle traffic will remain unrestricted along 14th Street NW, and the Waldorf Astoria, where vehicles can travel south on 11th Street from E Street and cross Pennsylvania Avenue to enter the hotel. These access points are essential for residents and employees needing to navigate the area during the event.

As the event approaches, the MPD encourages residents to stay informed about traffic updates and to remain patient as adjustments are made to facilitate the Grand Prix. The department aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both participants and spectators while minimizing disruptions for local residents.
