The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced an arrest in connection with a business burglary that took place in Northwest Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of 11th Street NW.
According to police reports, suspects forcibly damaged the door to gain entry into the establishment. While inside, they began to take items when a victim unexpectedly came downstairs, startling the suspects. One of the suspects managed to flee the scene with stolen property.
Through diligent investigative work and the review of security camera footage, detectives from the Third District were able to identify one of the suspects involved in the burglary. On Monday, August 3, 2026, officers from the Third District located the suspect and placed him under arrest.
Fifty-eight-year-old John Emerson Williams has been charged with Burglary Two in relation to this incident. The MPD continues to investigate the case and is urging anyone with additional information to come forward. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of individuals responsible for crimes in the District of Columbia.
