The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced an arrest in connection with an unarmed carjacking that took place in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on September 10, 2026, at approximately 4:52 p.m. when the victim was approached while seated in their vehicle in the 500 block of 21st Street, Northeast.
According to the MPD, one of the suspects forcibly removed the victim from the car before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle. Fortunately, the victim’s vehicle has since been recovered. On September 24, 2026, authorities apprehended 19-year-old Niko Wilson from Northwest D.C. and charged him with unarmed carjacking.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and the MPD is urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The department is currently offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for crimes committed in the area.
