The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the establishment of a Youth Curfew Zone in the Barry Farms neighborhood, a measure aimed at addressing concerns over youth-related disorderly conduct. This initiative is in accordance with the Juvenile Curfew Act of 1995, as amended by the Youth Curfew Act of 2026, which empowers the Chief of Police to designate specific areas as curfew zones when a group of nine or more youth gather.
The Youth Curfew Zone in Barry Farms will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The designated boundaries of the zone are as follows: to the northwest, Firth Sterling Avenue, Southeast; to the northeast, Howard Road, Southeast; to the southeast, Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast; and to the southwest, Pomeroy Road & Stevens Road, Southeast. Within this Youth Curfew Zone, individuals under the age of 18 are prohibited from gathering in groups of nine or more in public spaces or on the premises of any establishment, unless they are participating in specific exempted activities outlined by the MPD. Furthermore, the department reminds residents that a citywide curfew for all juveniles under 18 will be in effect during the months of July and August, from 12:01 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
