Maryland Man Sentenced to 198 Months in 2023 Violent Kidnapping and Rape of Former Partner

WASHINGTON – Brandon Tyriq White, a 31-year-old man from Maryland, was sentenced to 198 months in federal prison for the violent kidnapping and sexual assault of his former girlfriend, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced today. The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court, where Judge Amit P. Mehta also mandated White to serve five years of supervised release following his prison term and to register as a sex offender.

White pleaded guilty to a charge of kidnapping on February 18, 2025. The case stems from a harrowing incident that occurred in late December 2023, when White forcibly took his ex-girlfriend from a restaurant in Prince George’s County, Maryland, after a brief argument about a phone call she received. Following the abduction, White drove her to a residence in Southeast Washington, D.C., where he subjected her to further violence, including choking and sexual assault.

According to court documents, the victim attempted to escape multiple times during the ordeal. After being bound with zip ties and threatened with a firearm, she managed to convince White to drive her back to Maryland. During a stop at a convenience store, she again attempted to flee, but White caught her, resulting in physical harm. Ultimately, the woman escaped and sought medical treatment for her injuries.

Law enforcement apprehended White on December 23, 2023, in Charles County, Maryland, where they recovered a Glock semi-automatic pistol registered to him. However, White lacked a valid license to carry the firearm within the District of Columbia, highlighting the ongoing concerns regarding gun violence and public safety in the area.

This case was investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Janani Iyengary. U.S. Attorney Pirro emphasized the gravity of domestic violence, stating, “Brandon White’s victim fought to escape her attacker twice, and twice White caught her, bound her, and terrorized her. Domestic violence will not be tolerated.”
