The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has arrested a suspect in connection with a series of offenses in Northwest Washington, D.C. Twenty-two-year-old Alex Girma of Northwest D.C. was apprehended on Friday, July 10, 2026, following a DC Superior Court arrest warrant issued against him for multiple robbery charges.
One of the incidents occurred on February 8, 2026, around 2:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of 18th Street, NW, when a victim was forcibly taken into a vehicle by Girma and an accomplice. The victim was assaulted and robbed before being pushed out of the vehicle as the suspects fled the scene. This incident has been classified as robbery by force and violence, and it is documented under CCN: 26017834.
Additionally, Girma faces charges related to a robbery by snatch that took place on February 13, 2026, at approximately 3:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of 22nd Street, NW. During this incident, the suspects approached the victim from behind and forcibly took his property, physically pushing him when he attempted to reclaim it. This case is recorded under CCN: 26019480.
Another charge against Girma stems from a theft incident on February 21, 2026, around 3:52 a.m. in the 1200 block of 18th Street, NW, where he and others asked a victim to use his cell phone before fleeing with the device. This theft is documented under CCN: 26023319.

The department is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of individuals responsible for crimes in the District of Columbia.
