The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a homicide following a shooting incident that took place in Northwest Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Officers from the Third District responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of 5th Street NW at approximately 2:14 p.m.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two adult male victims at the scene. One victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was found in critical condition with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services from DC Fire and EMS quickly transported both individuals to a local hospital for treatment.
Tragically, despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the victim in critical condition did not survive his injuries. He has been identified as 29-year-old Keyon Malik Maynor, a resident of Northwest D.C.
The MPD is urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. In efforts to encourage community cooperation, the Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this and other homicides within the District.
