TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Special Event at the Waldorf Astoria, September 23-25, 2026

The DC Metropolitan Police Department has announced traffic restrictions and street closures in anticipation of a special event taking place at the Waldorf Astoria from September 23 to September 25, 2026. Motorists should be aware of significant parking limitations and changes to traffic flow in the vicinity during this period.

Beginning Monday, September 21, 2026, at 5 p.m., several streets will be designated as Emergency No Parking zones, including 10th Street from E Street to Constitution Avenue, and 12th Street from E Street to Constitution Avenue. Additional restrictions will take effect on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, affecting Pennsylvania Avenue between 9th and 13th Streets, both north and south sides, and extending to 15th Street on the north side.

Street closures are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:30 a.m., with 12th Street from E Street to Constitution Avenue being entirely closed to vehicle traffic. The closures will continue through Friday, September 25, 2026, at 5 p.m., affecting multiple thoroughfares including Pennsylvania Avenue and the 12th Street Tunnel/Expressway.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, further closures will be implemented from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., impacting Constitution Avenue from 14th to 18th Streets and 15th Street from Independence Avenue to H Street. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their travel routes accordingly to avoid delays during this event.
