The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is conducting an investigation into a homicide that took place in Northeast Washington, D.C. on the evening of Saturday, July 11, 2026. Officers from the MPD’s Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement personnel discovered a victim in an alleyway suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Aaron Brown, a resident of Laurel, Maryland. In light of this tragic incident, the MPD is urging anyone with information to come forward. Community members are asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or to text their tips to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for homicides in the District of Columbia. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
