The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with an assault involving a dangerous weapon in Northwest. The incident occurred on October 5, 2026, around 10:36 p.m. when officers were approached by a teenage male victim in the 200 block of O Street, who had sustained stab wounds.
According to the police, the assault stemmed from a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect, which escalated when the suspect used a knife to attack the victim. After the assault, the victim managed to escape and flagged down officers for help. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the victim.
During a subsequent search of the area, officers located the suspect and took them into custody without further incident. A search of the suspect’s belongings revealed items that had previously been reported as stolen.
Soanay Balsinde, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property. The investigation is ongoing as the police continue to gather information about the incident.
