The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a robbery that took place in Northwest Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on Friday, July 17, 2026, at approximately 5:02 p.m. in the 1000 block of U Street, an area known for its bustling nightlife and vibrant community.
According to MPD reports, an adult male victim flagged down Third District officers to report an assault involving a knife. The victim recounted that the suspect had snatched his cell phone, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a knife and attempted to assault the victim, who managed to evade injury and regain possession of his phone.
Officers responded promptly and located the suspect at the scene. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Brian Keith McMullen Jr. of Bowie, Maryland, was taken into custody without incident. He faces multiple charges, including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife), Robbery, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
