Traffic Advisories Issued for Washington, DC: Week of July 27, 2026
Washington, DC – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has announced several traffic advisories for the week of July 27, 2026, impacting various major roadways across the city. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan their travel routes accordingly as construction and maintenance activities are set to take place in multiple neighborhoods.
Among the significant changes, there will be temporary off-peak lane closures on East Capitol Street NE, Independence Avenue SE, and the C Street NE Connector Loop Road, starting on July 27. Additionally, multiple lane closures on New York Avenue NE will occur as part of the District’s sidewalk construction project. Motorists should also be aware of ongoing work on the I-395 HOV Bridge, which will involve concrete deck replacements for both northbound and southbound traffic during that week.
Night-time work is scheduled for the I-395 HOV Bridge rehabilitation, with lane closures specifically for northbound traffic. Bridge preventive maintenance will necessitate temporary lane closures from July 27 to July 31. The advisory highlights the Connecticut Avenue Deckover Project, which will implement four months of nighttime lane closures beginning on July 9, affecting traffic flow in the Dupont Circle area.
Other notable advisories include a 24-hour, two-lane closure on Nebraska Avenue NW set for July 7 for the DC PLUG Feeder 467 project, and traffic shifts on Maine Avenue SW that started earlier this month. A ramp closure from the southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway to the I-66 Eastbound Theodore Roosevelt Bridge is also in effect, further complicating travel in the area.
The DDOT aims to minimize disruptions while ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation throughout the city. Motorists and residents are urged to stay informed by following DDOT on social media and visiting their website for the latest updates on traffic conditions and alternative transportation options.
