WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 34-year-old woman, Vanessa Bonaparte, was found guilty on Wednesday in the D.C. Superior Court for her role in the fatal stabbing of Dwayne Boyd on June 22, 2024. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the verdict, which included a charge of voluntary manslaughter while armed.
Bonaparte’s sentencing has been scheduled for November 13, 2026, by Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz. The case has garnered attention in the local community, particularly in the Southeast quadrant of Washington, where the incident occurred at 3517 East Capitol Street SE.
According to evidence presented by the government, officers responded to reports of an argument at the apartment complex and found Bonaparte and another individual leaving the scene. Upon entering the apartment, authorities discovered Boyd unresponsive in a rear bedroom. The investigation revealed that Bonaparte had forcibly entered the apartment and, when confronted by Boyd in the kitchen, stabbed him twice in the chest with two knives, resulting in his death.
Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department also joined in the announcement, emphasizing the importance of public safety in the district. The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Emily Clarke and Gregory Evans.
