**Guilty Plea in Spree of Violent Armed Carjackings in the District, Maryland, and Virginia**
WASHINGTON — Taurian Anderson, a 21-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court for his involvement in a conspiracy to commit a series of armed carjackings across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the plea, which was entered before Judge Beryl A. Howell.
Anderson faced multiple charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit carjacking, one count of carjacking and aiding and abetting, and two counts of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 29, 2027, where Anderson could face significant penalties for his actions.
According to court documents, the carjacking spree began on August 9, 2024, when Anderson brandished a handgun and forced a DoorDash delivery driver to exit his Hyundai Elantra on East Capitol Street NE. Just hours later, around 3:30 a.m., Anderson and a co-conspirator used a firearm to threaten another driver on Dupont Terrace SE, stealing a Toyota Corolla.
The following month, on September 7, Anderson and his accomplices escalated their criminal activity by targeting a parked Honda Civic in Silver Spring, Maryland. They forcibly robbed the driver, a professional musician, of his personal belongings, including his saxophone, which he pleaded to retrieve. The duo then fled the scene, further committing another carjacking in Hyattsville, Maryland, where the victims were threatened and multiple items were stolen.
This string of violent incidents culminated in additional attempts at carjackings in Virginia. As Anderson awaits sentencing, this case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges of public safety in the region and the need for continued vigilance against violent crime in neighborhoods across D.C. and its neighboring areas.
