Isaiah Pushia-Keith, a 26-year-old resident of the District of Columbia with a prior felony conviction, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The announcement was made by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, highlighting the seriousness of the charges against Pushia-Keith, who is scheduled for sentencing on March 17, 2027, by Judge Reggie B. Walton.
The charges stem from an incident on May 10, 2025, when Metropolitan Police officers responded to a report of an assault near 214 Jefferson Street NW. A woman informed officers that Pushia-Keith had assaulted her and that she had left her phone at the scene. Utilizing tracking technology, police were able to locate the phone and subsequently found Pushia-Keith at a Safeway store located at 3830 Georgia Avenue NW.
Upon detaining Pushia-Keith, officers discovered he was in possession of the woman’s phone and was carrying a black cross-body satchel. Inside the bag, police found a ghost gun-an untraceable firearm without a serial number-along with a loaded high-capacity magazine containing six live rounds. This discovery raised concerns regarding the accessibility of such weapons to individuals with prior felony convictions, as Pushia-Keith’s previous felony conviction in Alexandria, Virginia, prohibits him from legally possessing firearms.
The incident underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address illegal firearm possession in the District. The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Travis Wolf and Charles Klug.
